Inside every toilet cistern is a small orchestra of moving parts working in harmony. When one falls out of tune, the water keeps flowing. The usual suspects are:

• Worn Outlet Valve – The valve that seals the flush outlet can perish or warp, allowing water to trickle constantly into the bowl.

• Faulty Inlet Valve (Fill Valve) – This controls the refill after a flush. If it fails, the cistern may overfill and spill into the overflow.

• Float Malfunction – The float tells the inlet valve when the cistern is full. If it’s set too high or gets stuck, the water never knows when to stop.
