Signs of a Gas Leak

Gas leaks can be subtle, but they often give themselves away if you know what to look (or smell) for:

Smell: The distinctive “rotten egg” odour (added by suppliers to make leaks detectable).
Sound: Hissing or whistling noises from pipe joints or appliances.
Sight: Bubbles in soapy water when applied to fittings, or plants inexplicably dying near underground lines.
Health Symptoms: Headaches, nausea, dizziness, or sudden fatigue when gas is present indoors.

If you suspect a leak, safety comes first: turn off the gas at the meter, ventilate the area, and call a licensed gas fitter immediately.

Faulty appliances such as cooktops, heaters, or hot water systems.
Accidental damage to underground gas lines during digging or construction.
